I was able to take a trip to Ireland over the summer and had to visit the Cliffs of Moher. Every time I turned to take another look at the cliffs, I was blown away. I felt like i could have spent hours just enjoying the view along the coat line. This is just one of my favorite shots from the cliffs. The size of these cliffs are massive. We walked up along both sides to get a view point from each. You could see Puffins flying and landing in the rocks, tiny dots that were ships boats moving about, and the waves and wind blowing in.
Since i was on vacation and not a photo trip, I didnt worry about setting up a tripod, using a bunch of gear and capturing different angles. There were hundreds of people walking around and I simply through up the camera composed for a second and took the shot. I was using my original Fuji x100 travel camera and i wasnt sure what type of dynamic range I had since I normally dont do landscapes with it. The sunny 16 rule was in the back of my mind, but I knew the sky would be blown out. I brought along my Lee Seven5 filter system for fuji and threw on a ND grad filter. I knew the right exposure that was needed and took the shot then use exposure compensation and figured i could bring out anything lost in post.
